Episode 16 – Is Photography the Silver Bullet?

In this episode we have our first ever guest on the show, Matt Reed, a professional commercial photographer who runs two different photography studios, Photography Project and Perth Product Photography.

Photography is one of those things that is commonly overlooked when it comes to websites and online marketing, which is unfortunate, because it really is one of the few “silver bullet”, easy changes that can make a huge difference to the performance of your site and online marketing.

Matt shares a bit about his photography background in the “About Us” video for Perth Product Photography and Photography Project below:

Listen to this episode and learn:

Episode 15 – Budgets, Hiring Consultants & How much does it cost?

One of the most common questions we get asked is “how much does it cost?”

This is really a terrible question because you’re focussed on the cost of online marketing instead of the outcome which is to get more new clients!

Listen to this week’s show and learn:

  • ballpark costings for online marketing
  • some of the steps and thinking points you should address BEFORE asking about cost

Highlights, Notes and Action Items from this episode:

Questions you should be able to answer:

  • what do you want? i.e. what do you REALLY want…. being number 1 in Google is a means to an end, what you actually want is more customers or sales
  • what is a customer worth to you? in other words what is their lifetime value
  • what is your monthly budget? what are you prepared or what can you afford to spend to acquire new customers
  • how are you going to measure success? do you have systems in place to track it?

Other important points:

  • be realistic about costings and results, a basic newspaper ad in a community newspaper is $500-1000/month, don’t expect to be able to reduce your cost by going online AND at the same time get better results
  • don’t shop on price – do you go to the cheapest doctor in town? no? so why are you looking for the cheapest online marketing solution?
  • DIY is often false economy, you may save money but you’re sacrificing your time and more importantly, probably hurting your results
